Pen y Fan Horseshoe Ridge Walk - The Best Way to Experience South Wales' Highest Mountain!

Hey everyone! This week we are in the Brecon Beacons National Park to complete the Pen y Fan Horseshoe Ridge walk. In our opinion this is the best way to experience South Wales' highest mountain! At 886m high Pen y Fan is the tallest mountain in the Brecon Beacons and the great thing about this peak is that it is accessible from multiple different routes depending on whether you are after an easy, difficult or quiet ascent to the summit. In this video we show you our journey around the Horseshoe Ridge walk but we also share with you some of the other routes you can take. On a clear day like we had you can see for miles and the views are incredible! The easiest route to hike up Pen Y Fan

Walk up Pen Y fan, the tallest mountain in south Wales, via the easiest route with us! This whole route can be completed in around 3 hours so is perfect to do with kids or lazy friends who can’t be bothered for full-day mountains. Pont Ar Daf car park is at a reasonably high elevation so it’s much easier to hike this route compared with the other major trails. The views here are among the best in the Brecon Beacons, I love hiking this route and have done it countless times now. It makes a very good spot to hunt for sunsets and sunrises because you could hike the route easily in the dark. Just be warned, it is very popular with hikers and tourists so don’t expect an empty summit! If you visit, please take all your rubbish home with you (if it doesn’t grow there, it doesn’t go there), and make sure you use the public toilets at the start because there isn’t anywhere else along the trail. Respect the space and leave no trace. . . My kit list: MellowClo Bucket Hat 🤍 Montane Terra Ridge Trousers 🤍 The North Face Glacier Fleece 🤍 Osprey Stratos 26 Backpack 🤍 Rab Force Tee 🤍 (If specified, these links will give you a discount. I receive a small commission from some of these links but it costs you nothing, so using these is the most effective way to support the channel) . . Follow me elsewhere: 🤍 🤍

A Complete Guide To The Pen y Fan Horseshoe - BEST walk in The Brecon Beacons

Is the Pen y Fan Horseshoe the BEST walk in the Brecon Beacons of South Wales? So this time I am back in Wales in the Brecon Beacons doing the Pen Y Fan horseshoe. I have done this many times from many different routes too and in lots of different weather conditions. Its a great little hike with some great views if you have the weather on your side! Nice easy paths to follow for the majority of it but id still advise to have the correct socks and boots for walking as it is still around 11 - 12 miles. Thanks so much for clicking on my video I hope you enjoyed it! Please hit the thumbs up button if you enjoyed it and leave me a comment below the video if you did or have done this before. ATB.... Pen Y Fan | Is it WORTH it?

Is Pen Y Fan really worth all that hype? Come take a walk with us as we trek up to Pen Y Fan. Pen Y Fan is a local mountain to us, which is situated in the Brecon Beacons. We live around 15 minutes drive from Pen Y Fan and we have walked this mountain on many occasions and we will take you up on our little adventure. We started our walk from the main route at Pont ar daf car park. Here is the link to google maps - 🤍 Pen Y Fan had become so popular lately and many people take the walk from Pont ar daf car park up and it took us around 1 hour to walk up to Pen Y Fan. As we mentioned in our video here is a link to some lovely alternative walks in the Brecon beacons - 🤍 We really hope you enjoyed the video.

I took on a UK Special Forces Challenge | The Fan Dance

This was the most important physical challenge of my life. I took on “The Fan Dance'' to prove to myself that I had overcome past injuries and setbacks. It was the culmination of a long journey to rebuild my body. My hope is that this video inspires you to overcome any physical or mental challenge you might be facing , because I know what you're capable of! What is The Fan Dance? It is a 24km route march that forms part of UK Special Forces Selection. It is used as the first major indicator to assess if a candidate has the physical and mental aptitude to complete the legendary SAS selection course. The SAS cut-off time to complete the route is 4 hours 10 minutes. A time that I was determined to beat! I took part in the 'Load bearing' category which required wearing a loaded bergen weighing 35lb in addition to a minimum of 3 litres of water plus food. DISCLAIMER: This was a personal challenge. It barely scratches the surface of SAS Selection. What they have to go through is on an entirely different level and I have the highest level of respect for those who have passed and served. Pen Y Fan Horseshoe Ridge Walk, Brecon Beacons, Wales

I had the chance to solo hike Pen Y Fan Horseshoe / Brecon Beacons Horseshoe for the first time and captured the views it has to offer. This incredible Pen Y Fan ridge walk hike is in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, it is a circular 10 mile ridge walk that ascends four peaks, three of which are the highest peaks in South Wales. The trail I took starts you off at Neuadd Reservoir Carpark and follows a pretty steep climb up to the horseshoe ridge walk offering you hella views of the popular Brecon Beacons peaks. The trail I used only covers 3 peaks along the Pen Y Fan horseshoe ridge walk, but as an optional extra at the end, you can also go up Fan Y Big if you so desire. Pen Y Fan Hike | Pont Ar Daf Route| Brecon Beacons | South Wales

#penyfan #PontArDaf #breconbeacons Hi guys, thanks for clicking on my video. in this episode i head up Pen Y fan in south wales. Pen y Fan is the highest peak in south Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 886 metres (2,907 ft) above sea-level, it is also the highest British peak south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia. It is the highest point (county top) of the historic county of Brecknockshire (though in modern administrative terms, it now lies within the unitary council area of Powys). The twin summits of Pen y Fan and Corn Du at 873 m (2,864 ft) were formerly referred to as Cadair Arthur or 'Arthur's Seat'. The mountain and surrounding area are owned by the National Trust whose work parties attempt to combat the erosion caused by the popularity of this peak with walkers. The mountain is used by the military as part of the selection process of the UK's Special Forces personnel. Three soldiers who died after collapsing in the field in July 2013 were believed to have been climbing the mountain (see "Fan Dance") while undergoing Special Air Service selection. link here for the National trust! 🤍 links to my shizz Instagram: 🤍 Buy Me A Coffee: 🤍 Buy Me a Coffee is A way you can buy me a coffee and send me a small donation towards my Channel. EPIC Pen y Fan Horseshoe Wild Camp in my all-new 2023 tent!

We went wild camping in the Brecon Beacons and also to take on the Pen y Fan Horseshoe. We love a backpacking challenge so we made the Pen y Fan hiking harder by taking in more than just the mountains of Big y Fan, Cribyn, Pen y Fan and Corn Du. We found a great place to wild camp just below Pen y Fan at Llyn Cwm Llwch. The weather for our wild camping uk trip was perfect. Zero wind, no rain and lots of sun. Our first days hiking covered 12 miles. I got up for the sun rise at pen y fan (Mark stayed in his backpacking tent!) and covered a further 3 miles and then on the way back to the car covered another 9 miles. We were testing out our latest camping gear including my new 2023 Terra Nova Lazer Compact AS tent, Mark's Big Agnes Copper Spur 1 tent, my Osprey Atmos 50 LT, Fire Maple Radiant camping stove and Inov-8 Roclite G400 hiking boots and lots of other smaller backpacking gear items. I love wild camping in Wales but usually spend my time in Snowdonia. However, wild camping in the brecon beacons was superb and there are so many places to camp up high out of the way of people and animals. We left no trace, please make sure you do the same! How to do the Pen y Fan Horseshoe Ridge Walk (Wales Best Hike?)

The Pen y Fan Horseshoe Hike is one of the best hikes in the Brecon Beacons. The hike is around 8 miles, although this depends on your starting point, of course. We set off from the Neuadd car park near the Neuadd Reservoir, heading roughly north towards the old reservoir pump house. We then took a left, heading roughly east. The path ascends to the Craig y Fan Ddu ridge, where it continues roughly north-north-west until reaching the foot of Corn Du peak. Corn Du peak is home to a Bronze age cairn, which was formerly a burial ground. There also amazing views including glacial lakes below. The path then continues to the summit of Pen y Fan (886m), the hike's highest point and the highest point in South Wales. Heading South-East, the path descends towards Cribyn, the third peak on the horseshoe route. After a steep climb to the summit of Cribyn you will probably need a rest and a drink of water! The final descent on the route will take you to a junction with the Gap Road. You can either add another peak to your route, Fan y Big, making a U-turn at the top, or return south, back to the pump house and eventually the car park where you started.

Teenage Girl Becomes Youngest Person To Complete SAS 'Fan Dance'

A teenager from South Lanarkshire has become the youngest person to complete the notorious SAS selection test. 17-year-old Lilyella Craw-Seaman carried a 43lb rucksack to the top of the 2,907 ft Pen Y Fan mountain in Wales, before going back down it, turning round and doing it again. It was part of the 'Fan Dance', a key part of Special Forces selection, which sees challengers take on a 15-mile march, run and climb in the Brecon Beacons.
